Martin Smith is a singer/songwriter, and the former frontman of Delirious?

Martin and his wife Anna now head up art and development charity CompassionArt.

In a world of album sales and royalty cheques, it can be hard to see how music and justice link up. But the basis of CompassionArt is that they do.

'I have had the privilege of travelling to some of the poorest parts of the world and seeing first hand the plight of humanity', says Martin. 'As a songwriter and a person with a microphone I made a promise to try and do something about it. What better than to call on my friends and do something together. To be people that can make a change rather than just singing about it.'

So Martin and Anna have been working with 11 other artists, including Darlene Zschech, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Graham Kendrick.

So far this new creative partnership an an album of 14 new songs and a book. And proceeds from CompassionArt resources are used to support those working among the world's poorest communities.
